Anthony Brown (1906-87)
Abstract Landscape with tree
Watercolour
Size: 33cm x 41cm
Age: c.1940-50
Provenance: signed verso
Fabulous large abstract watercolour in the postwar style - echoes of the work of Graham Sutherland and other British abstract painters here in this dynamic and almost sinister landscape, full of movement. Undated but I would think 1940`s or 50`s. Very nice 1950`s heavy gilt frame, glazed and ready to hang! British Art from this period is very collectable and represents a good investment.
Anthony Brown (1906-87) was an abstract painter in oil and watercolour of still life and landscape, especially in Dorset, where his work is in the collection of the Dorset County Museum. Exhibited at the Redfern Galleries and Manchester City Art gallery in the late 1930`s.
